Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, the Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympics will be rescheduled from 24th August to 5th September 2021.

In this season, 4400 athletes will participate in 540 events in 22 sports. Also, sports lovers will see the introduction of badminton and taekwondo to the Paralympic program, replacing sailing and 7-a-side football.
Paralympic Games has been starting since 1960, by that time Italy won the #1 rank with 29 gold medals in the medal table whereas Great Britain was #2 and West Germany was #3 in position.
The United States has been the top-ranking (medal counts) nation for eight Paralympic Summer Games: 1964, 1968, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992 and 1996.
