Para-badminton sport will first introduce along with taekwondo at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Various physical disabilities athletes will participate in the badminton competition and this sport is governed by the Badminton World Federation.

At this Tokyo 2020 Paralympics tournaments, 14 events (men’s events 7, women’s events 6 & 1 mixed event) will be scheduled. Hence, approximately 90 badminton players will play from 28 nations.
There have six disability criteria:
- WH1: Impairment in both lower limbs and trunk and/or have high spinal cord injuries,
- WH2: One or more impairments in their lower limbs,
- SL3: One or both lower limbs and have poor walking/running balance,
- SK4: One or both lower limbs, unilateral polio or mild cerebral palsy,
- SU5: Impairments in their upper limbs such as a missing thumb which restricts grip and power of the stroke or loss of an arm due to amputation or nerve damage,
- SS6: Achondroplasia and short stature.
Para-badminton Schedule & Fixture at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics
The para-badminton sport will be started from 1st September to 5th September 2021 at Yoyogi National Stadium.
