Since 1996 in Paralympics, the wheelchair rugby competition first appeared. It became an official medal-awarding sport in 2000 and has been competed at every Summer Paralympics since then. Only one event, mixed team, is held.

Last season at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, Australia won the gold medal; where the United States got the silver medal and Japan won the bronze medal on that. Though, United States won times champions in wheelchair rugby at Summer Paralympics before. But last two seasons, Australia beat and hold their champion’s title.
You already knew that the 2020 Paralympics was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They will keep the 2020 name and be held from 24 August to 5 September 2021.

Tokyo 2021 Paralympics: Wheelchair Rugby Schedule & Fixture
The Paralympics wheelchair rugby competition will be started from 25th August to 29th August 2021 at Yoyogi National Stadium. The very first match will happen between the United States vs New Zealand from group B on 25th August 2021 at Yoyogi National Stadium. At the same time, from group A, Australia will play against Denmark.
