From 25th August to 11th September, the 1960 Summer Olympics tournament was scheduled in Rome, Italy. That was the second time Italy had organized that season. Out of 6 nations (Italy, Switzerland, United States, Hungary, Belgium, Mexico, and Japan) – Italy had been awarded this tournament. Before that, Italy hosted its very first Olympics in 1908.
The Rome 1960 Summer Olympic Games was opened by Giovanni Gronchi, was Italian President at that time. Stadio Olimpico was the main stadium of that. Apart from the main venue, there have other thirty-four venues were used in the whole tournament. From the 83 nations, 5,338 athletes participated that season in 150 events in 17 sports.
CBC, American broadcast television has been telecasted the whole season. Additionally, they had provided their live broadcasting service in Canada and Mexico.
