Field handball sport was first introduced at the Berlin 1936 Summer Olympics. But indoor handball sport originally first appeared in the Munich 1972 Summer Olympics. After that, women’s discipline was first intruded on next season in the Montreal 1976 Summer Olympics.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was postponed. Now the authority resumes this season for 2021.

Handball Schedule & Fixture: Tokyo 2021 Olympics
The Handball sport of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will start from 24 July – 8 August 2021 at Yoyogi National Gymnasium. Two disciplines: men’s and women’s will compete, 12 teams each event.
Previous Olympics season in Rio 2016, Denmark won the gold medal, France got the silver medal and Germany took third place on that. On the other event in women’s handball: Russia got the champions, France was the runners-up and Norway took third place.
Tokyo 2020 Olympics Men’s Handball Teams
12 teams will play 5 matches for each group team at the group stage. After the group stage, 8 teams will qualify for the next quarterfinals and the next 4 teams will fight for the semifinals.
