The Open Championship known as British Open is a prestigious golf tournament organized since 1860. The current champion is Collin Morikawa who won his eleventh British Open title at Royal St George’s Golf Club on 18 July 2021.

The British Open was first played on the Old Course at St Andrew’s in 1860 and has been played annually since 1872. The current course, Royal Birkdale, opened in 1898. It is currently rated a tournament standing at 7th by the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

Past Winners of the Open Championship

The Championship is open to professionals and consists of 72 holes stroke play over four days plus an optional final day. There are two formats for the championship: 18-hole stroke play or 36 -hole stroke play. The first format was introduced in 1902, with the 36-hole format becoming an official event in 1954.
