The Moscow 1980 Summer Olympics was held from 19 July to 3 August at Moscow, Soviet Union (Present – Russia). In that time, the USA with many countries and many athletes were boycotting this season because of the Soviet-Afghan War.
The 5,179 athletes from 80 nations have participated in 21 sports events. 28 sports venues were used in whole. Though many nations didn’t attend this season, the officials confirmed that the total expenditure of US$1,350,000,000 and total revenues being US$231,000,000 in Moscow 1980 Summer Olympics.
Many broadcasting TV and radio channels had coverage such as – Eurovision, Intervision, TV Asahi, Seven Network. But the major broadcaster NBC canceled its coverage of this tournament in response to the U.S. boycotting.

Team Sports Result at the Moscow 1980 Summer Olympic Games
Czechoslovakia was the first time champions in Olympic history in Football sports. On the other hand, East Germany was runners-up team and the Soviet Union was the bronze medalist team in the Moscow 1980 Summer Olympic Games.
From the Basketball sport, Yugoslavia (Men) and Soviet Union (Women) were the champions teams. Italy (Men) and Bulgaria (Women) were the runners-up team on that.
From the Handball sport in the Moscow 1980 Summer Olympics, the champions teams were East Germany from men’s event and the Soviet Union from women’s event.
