Biathlon combines speed, endurance and accuracy in one sport. This amazing combination ensures that the biathlon athlete is mentally and physically tough.
The biathlon event consists of a sprint, a long setting race and shooting completion. Speed is the main focus of this event. A sprint consists of a test for sprinting style and continues with different conditions, including snow, snow with frozen water, dry foliage and mud – all affected by the weather.
Winter Paralympics 2022 Schedule
Despite being a sport that is only 20 years old, biathlon has fast gained an international reputation. At the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the biathlon event was a highlight of the entire competition, besides cross-country skiing and wheelchair curling.

Fast forward four years and India is in the midst of becoming a global hub for biathlon. As part of this year’s Ski India season, the government plans to hold events on four different grounds – Sirish Icefall, Siachen Glacier, Nandurbar and Kulfi Peak in July.
Biathlon 2022 Winter Paralympics Schedule & Fixture

The Biathlon sport will be started from 5th to 11th March at 2022 National Biathlon Center. Athletes are separated into 3 categories: sitting, standing and visually impaired, and they compete in 3 events: sprint, middle distance, long distance.
Men’s events
- 7.5 kilometres – Visually impaired, Sitting, Standing
- 12.5 kilometres – Visually impaired, Sitting, Standing
- 15 kilometres- Visually impaired, Sitting, Standing
Women’s events
- 6 kilometres – Visually impaired, Sitting, Standing
- 10 kilometres – Visually impaired, Sitting, Standing
- 12.5 kilometres – Visually impaired, Sitting, Standing
