FIFA has been organizing the women’s basketball world cup under-17 tournament since 2010. The event has been scheduled biennially in July. In total 16 teams have been participating each edition.

The last edition of this tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The United States won four championship titles and Australia won the final once in 2016.

However, the 6th edition of this tournament will take place from 9-17 July 2022 in Debrecen, Hungary. And 16 teams will compete in four groups.
